Jeff Kohn was born in Ohio in 1972. His family relocated to northeast Texas in 1982, and he has lived in Texas ever since. He studied computer science at Texas A&M University, and met and married his wife Heather during that time. After college, the couple moved to Houston where Jeff went to work as a software engineer.

Jeff's interest in photography began with his first digital camera in 2004. What started as a general interest in cameras and photography, became more focused on landscape photography during a national park visit. After that, his motivation became experiencing nature and sharing some of that experience with others through images.

With no formal training, Jeff is primarily a self-taught photographer. He picked up the mechanics of photography by studying books, magazines, and online sources. The ongoing process of finding his own visual style and creating images that resonate with viewers and communicate a sense of place is what keeps photography both challenging and rewarding for him.
